The Cherokee County Detention Center was opened in October of 1996 and renovated in 2004. The facility has a capacity of 114, housing both male and female adult inmates for the county, local police in the county, and for the US Marshal Service. The facility currently has a total of 20 employees, consisting of a Chief of Corrections, 4 Shift Lieutenant's, 2 Cooks, and 13 shift Corrections Officers. All officers are required to attend and 80 hr. APOST approved Jail Management School, Taser and O.C. certification, CPR and First Aid, Draeger Breath Analyzer training, and PPCT/SSGT self defense training.
The Cherokee County Detention Center accepts the following types of bail bonds: Property - All property bonds require 2 signatures. Each signature must have property equal to the amount of the bond each, and cannot have mortgaged property. Cash Bond - Must be paid in full at the Cherokee County Circuit Clerk's Office. Bonding Company - Bonding Companies must be licensed in Cherokee County to make bonds. Most companies charge 10% of the bond amount to make the bail for inmates.
Visitation for inmates are at the following times: Unit 1 Non-Trustee - Sunday from 1PM to 3PM; Unit 1 Trustee - Sunday from 3PM to 5PM; Unit 2 - Saturday from 1PM to 3PM; Unit 3 - Sunday from 8AM to 10AM; Unit 4 - Saturday from 7:30 to 9:30 AM; Unit 5 - Saturday from 3PM to 5PM; Unit 6 - Saturday from 9:30 AM to 11 AM; Holding/Medical Infirmary inmates - Saturday from 3PM to 5PM. All visits are limited to 20 minutes per inmate. All visitors must provide a valid ID upon request.
