Major Julie Lawson is the warden of the St. Joseph County Jail, which is located at 401 W. Sample St. South Bend, IN 46601. Anyone arrested in St. Joseph County by the nine police departments within the county are brought to our facility where they are either able to bond out or await charges and prosecution. Occasionally, an inmate will be sentenced to complete their time at the St. Joseph County Jail instead of going to the Indiana Department of Corrections. This is up to the judge’s discretion and is also determined by available beds.
Actual visiting hours vary depending on the following factors:
The day of the week.
Where the inmate is housed.
The inmate's sex.
Whether or not it is a Holiday.
Each inmate is allowed one or two visits, ranging from 15 minutes to one hour in length each week. Inmates with special privileges are allowed additional visits.
If you are visiting from another state or traveling a great distance, Wright County Jail may allow you an extended visitation. Call to ask for special consideration.
