The Barry County Jail Administrator is Jan Smith. In 2001 she began her career at the Sheriff's Office in the office as the Civil Process clerk and one of Sheriff Mick Epperly's secretaries.The jail staff consists of 1 Assistant Jail Administrator, 1 Senior Correctional Officer, 6 Correctional Officers, 1 full time Receptionist/Correctional Officers, 1 kitchen supervisor/cook, and 1 part time cook. The Jail employs 11 Correctional Officers aka Jailers. This allows for a minimum of 2 per shift. This increases the safety and well being for both the Jailers and inmates. All meals are prepared at the jail. The jail is operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Whether or not it is a Holiday.
Each inmate is allowed one or two visits, ranging from 15 minutes to one hour in length each week. Inmates with special privileges are allowed additional visits.
