The Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility opened in 1994 and is the largest county detention facility in Arkansas, housing more than 1,000 detainees daily. It is the only long-term detention facility in Pulaski County so it supports twelve law enforcement agencies and thirty-three state and local courts. It is a facility that utilizes the “Direct Supervision” concept of inmate management, which allows the jail to maintain security and order in a cost effective manner. Running a facility of this size requires multiple divisions and sections specializing in the various aspects of maintaining a constitutionally sound operation. The sections include Housing and Security, Intake Section, Transport Section, Court Liaison Office, Detention Training Division, Medical Department and more.
